Yesterday E and I went to my parent's house for dinner to help celebrate my brother Jeff's 24th birthday. We made homemade pizzas and spent the afternoon hearing about Brian and Jeff's recent trip to Japan. They both had millions of WorldPerks miles saved up and were able to fly to Tokyo last weekend basically for FREE.
It sounds as though the boys had quite an adventure in this country that is quite different from America. Most of the adventure stemmed from not speaking any Japanese and not having any idea what they were doing, where they were going, or what they were seeing! Everything is spoken and written in Japanese, of course, so my brothers had to guess at much of what they were doing. Many of the restaurants had plastic models of what items were featured on their menus to help with non-Japanese speakers, and they relied on that most of the time. They went to one really cool restaurant called Ninja that had English speaking servers... They had a lot of fun eating sushi and other Japanese cuisine. I am really proud of them for being so adventurous...when we were growing up I would never have dreamed of either of them ever trying sushi, yet alone liking it!
They got to visit Narita Temple and the Imperial Palace, legendary sites in Tokyo. They also went to the Ginza
district (Like Times Square). They also had an amazing view of Mt. Fuji from their hotel, The Westin Tokyo.
If you are interested in seeing all of the pictures or just hearing more about the trip, visit Jeff's Tokyo Pictures . He has not yet added commentary to any of the pictures, but plans to do that soon! I can't wait to visit Tokyo myself sometime!
