By now some of you who have stuck with me on my blogging journey or who really know me have learned that I am interested in the paranormal.... I love hearing true ghost stories, stories of guardian angels, UFOs and cryptozoology, and I especially love the topics of premonitions and ESP, which are my topics for today.
ESP: There are many types of ESP, such as clairvoyance, precognition (aka premonitions), telepathy, out of body experiences, mediumship, psychokinesis and empathic ability.
Some parapsychologists might say that everyone has the ability to tap into their psychic abilities, but not everyone does for one reason or another. Some of you may be skeptical or think I am crazy, but I think I have above-average experiences in this area. Its taking me some guts to put this out here but I have:
- I had an experience with my guardian angel (in which I believe he/she saved my life)
- I have experienced ghostly phenomenon several times
- I have had dreams that have either come true or were very similar to events that happened in real life
- I have had dreams where people who have passed on have come to me to give me a message to give to specific people
- I have been known on several occasions to read someone's mind or to get vibes from people long distances away.
I have found that there are certain people in my life that I have a very strong psychic connection with. Bradie is one of them, probably because we grew up together and have been through significant life circumstances together. I can't tell you how many times we have read each other's mind, even having conversations without speaking out loud to each other. Very weird but cool at the same time!
Is anyone willing to admit that they have been able to read someone's mind? Is it usually a specific person you have a psychic connection with?
Premonitions: People throughout time have documented premonitions and prophecies that have come true. As scary as some of this stuff must seem, I am still fascinated by it. The History channel has tons of cool shows about Nostradamus and other civilizations who have prophecized major events that have already come true. I have not experienced too many premonitions, but the few I have had really freaked me out. One about 4-5 occasions during 1998-99, I had dreams of airplanes crashing. Each time that I had the dream I would hear of an airplane crash within 24 hours of having the dream.
Someone close to me may also have had a premonition about the major Tsunami that happened in Dec. 2004. Just two days before the Tsunami, this person spoke to me of the horrible devastation that had happened in Asia that killed tens of thousands of people. I was like WHAT???!!! because I had not heard of anything. This person wasn't clear about what type of devastation, but thought it may have been an earthquake. Wouldn't you know that two days later the Tsunami happened in southeast Asia after the 2nd largest earthquake ever recorded on a seismograph took place in the Indian Ocean.
Is anyone willing to share a premonition that came true that it has happened to you or someone you know?
Just curious what ya'll think of this topic. Are you a skeptic or a believer?

Nope, sorry. I can't relate. Paranormal "happenings" freak me out. Not to say they don't exist, I just choose to believe they don't. I think I'm one of those people who won't tap into their abilities because I deny they exist. I refuse to believe someone who has passed on could come to me, and I firmly believe they haven't because it would scare the crap out of me. Premonitions, well, I'd have to see it to believe it, you know? If I had your experience, maybe my mind would change. But I haven't so, I can't really comment on that. Oh, and no, I've never had my mind read, nor have I read someone else's. But, that would be cool!

i have a lot of 'deja vus' - things that i saw happen to me that actually do happen... but nothing that i would consider paranormal. i would love to be psychic, though. at least for a day.

Ohhhhh, Creepy! Are we on the same page or what!!!
I don't think that you are Crazy at all!
I totally believe you and can honestly say that I have had a few dreams that have came true. I also believe that while living at my grandma's taking care of her while she was dying of cancer that one night my grandpa who had passed away years prior came in my bedroom, sat on the edge of my bed and put his hand on my shoulder. I couldn't see him but I could sense that he was there. Maybe saying thank you. I'm not sure. Also, you read my post today about living with a Ghost who was as real as they get.
That is so Cool that you have premonitions and dreams of things that happen! We will have to talk more about this sometime... I have many stories and I am sure that you do to.
I also LOVE this kind of stuff!

I remember having a weird dream about flooding and a big mudslide from a volcano and right after that the tsunami happened and also I think in California or something there was something about flooding/mudslides... That's about as premonitioned-out as I get. I try not to read into that stuff because it freaks me out. Denise's post has me totally scared. I'm home alone with Porter tomorrow and now I'm scared to go in my freaking basement! HAHA!

I'm a believer. I don't have any psychic abilities, but my mom often dreams of things that come true. I was also raised on tarot cards. The night before 911, my mom saw it in my card reading. She described it and I had no idea what she was talking about until it happened the next day.
I've also been to the psychic medium, John Edwards. He told us things about my dead grandmother that would be impossible for anyone to know.

I had a large interest and did a lot of research on Angels when I was in college. I'm still fascinated with the subject and really do think we have gaurdian angels that we can access if we are open to them. I haven't thought much about this recently, thanks for bringing it back :)

You should watch Ghost Hunters on the sci-fi channel Wed. Nights at 7 and 8pm. I watch every week. Cause I have seen "shadow people" in my parents house ALOT. And at my own home. Along with Jeff and I on seperate days and times have heard kids laughing just outside our front door. And after the girls go to sleep. There have been several times that I would hear a child saying "mom" I'd go to Georgia's or Cidney's room and they would be sound asleep. That has happend to Jeff as well. Or hearing very soft ballroom type music. OR what I believe to be my sprite guide/gaurdian angel waking me out of my sleep by saying my name. I don't hear it in my ear but in my head. Every time that has happend. About 2 to 5 minutes later one of my kids will come cring to me in my room. And, one more thing. Back in 1996 my friend and I were driving pretty late at night on the road that goes around the south end of w.b.l (the lake) just after Mcknight where you start to head downhill. And very quickly the car started to head right for the big drop off into the lake. And, at the very last second the car whipped around and came to a dead stop in the other lane facing the correct direction. While this was going on. I remember looking at my friend (who was driving) and her hands were not on the wheel. My friend and I never talked about that night. But I felt than and still do feel that a higher power saved ourlives. It's hard to explain how you feel at that moment when something happends. But, you just KNOW that someone or something was working its magic. I have plenty of stories. But, not enough room here to tell them.

I have plenty of; eerie coincidence, paranormal, premonition, reincarnation-type, etc. stories. Too many to list, but the one that sticks out in my mind the most is; a friend & I have in the past spoke randomly in conversation of people we attended school w/ & within several weeks after us bringing up their names out the blue, their obituary is in the paper. Totally freaks us out!! 1 was an auto accident, 1 was an aneurysm & 2 were suicides. We have just said no more reminiscing about school w/ each other, no way! Like I have said in the past, I am w/ you on this one Kristi. I love the unexplained & paranormal stuff, but when it affects me like that I'll pass & call it a coincidence??

Oops. hit the post button before I was finished! I mean I'll call that experience in particular a coincidence. Not a skeptic definitely a believer!

Great topic. I remember when you, Bradie and myself were out to dinner and we got on the topic of ghosts and I told the only ghost story that I had experienced at that time and then you two told a couple of your ghost stories from college and it blew my story away. You have had some crazy things happen. I feel like we have a ghost in our house right now. Michael has grown up in this house his whole life and he has always felt like a ghost has been there. I moved in last May and during the summer I could tell something about this house was different. At this point Michael had never mentioned a ghost. I told him that I thought a ghost was here and he didn't confirm or deny it because I think he didn't want me to get scared. Now I have accepted that someone or something is at the house and it doesn't bother me too much. I try my hardest not to be scared because I believe the ghost is harmless. Michael likes to believe it is his best friend, Gary, who died when they were 17.
As far as the dreams, I had one possible premonition. I had a dream that there was a plane crash but it wasn't actually a plane but that is all I could actually attribute it to in my dream. I remember seeing the pilot, who was dressed in a uniform like a colonel-type or someone a part of the military. After I woke up, I told my friend right away and he went to the internet to see if there was a plane crash. The space shuttle Columbia had just blown up during re-entry into the atmosphere. So to me, that was a premonition. The shuttle looks very much like a plane without the boosters on it and I attribute the colonel-type pilot/captain uniform to the fact that they were to land right next to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Thanks for letting me share!

I believe that some people have that power, the only thing that I get is deja vu.
