Genetics and Eye Color

Have any of you studied genetics? I think it is pretty cool how it works.  Dominant and recessive genes, etc.

I started thinking about eye color and genetics the other day and made some interesting observations about my family

My paternal grandfather had blue eyes, My paternal grandmother had brown eyes.

Of their 7 children 4 have brown eyes, 3 have blue (one is my dad)

My maternal grandfather (Gramp) has blue eyes, my maternal grandma (Gram) has hazel.

Of their 8 children, 1 has brown eyes, 4 have greenish/hazel, 3 have blue (my mom has blue eyes with a ring of yellow in the center, makes them look teal)

Brian and I have blue eyes, Jeff has green.

Anyone care to share their family history of eye color?  It would be nice to know I still have readers here......hits and comments have dropped dramatically since I put the password up

Hmmm, I don't know the colors of my gparent's and aunts and uncles. But, my dad has blue eyes and my mom has green. I have blue eyes and my sister has green. Both Bri and I have blue eyes and all our kids are blue eyed.

I am such a science geek - I loved Biology, and seriously wish I had taken Genetics in college. My Dad has hazel/green eyes and my mom has blue eyes - I got green, my sister got blue. I don't know about my in-laws, but hubby has green as well . . . which makes it amusing that our children have the deepest, darkest, blue eyes! My mom likes to joke that they got their grandmother's eyes.

I don't know much about my paternal side - other than my dad's eyes are blue...but on my maternal side we're all blue eyed (grandma, grandpa and their 5 daughters - including my mom).

My guess is I come from a long line of blue eyed people! :)

All blue on both sides I'm blue. J's Dad is blue, Mom had brown. Of their 4 kids 3 brown eyes, J included, and 1 hazel. Our Daughter has brown eyes, J really was hoping for blue, but I didn't think there was a hope, since brown is dominant, and his son has brown and his mom comes from all blue too.

I don't know about my Grandparents but my mother has brown eyes and my father has green/hazel eyes. I got my father's eyes. I always thought brown was the dominant eye color.

All the family members on my moms side have blue eyes. On my dads side every has brown eyes. I have a light rust color in the center that turns to a rusty green as it reaches out than a ring of blue gray on the most outer part. My sister has green eyes with just the smallest hint of rust color.
