Alright, today I am going to go Hollywood on ya'll......
Everywhere you turn these days it seems like what the celebrities are doing (or who they're doing!) or what they're wearing is such big news. There are celebrity blogs all over the place like Perez Hilton (and I am sure a million more), TV programs such as ET, Hollywood Access, and of course all the paparazzi mags like US, In Touch, etc.
I know a ton of my friends are addicted to hearing gossip about the celebrities. A few of them even refer to celebrities by first name only, like they KNOW them personally.
"Omg, have you heard the latest about Britney?" "Brad and Angelina's baby...."
Blah, blah, blah.
I'm not that into it, but I do admit to tuning in every once in awhile when a show about celebrities happens to be on. (I think I like True Hollywood Stories or Where are they Now? rather than the gossip shows.) The only time I check out the mags is at the salon or Dr. office...otherwise I could care less. I have too many other things going on to worry about whats happening in Hollywood. When I do pay attention, it often makes me sick (like the whole Britney breakdown and how the media just wouldn't leave her alone)
Obviously what the celebrities are doing is quite popular, otherwise it wouldn't be big news. I am wondering who out there is a celebrity gossip junky? If you are, go ahead and admit it! Please tell me what is it that appeals to you so much?
I am also wondering whether you think celebrities deserve their privacy or if their position as a celebrity makes them a fair target to the paparazzi?

Other TFT posters this week:
Heather on teaching kids about private parts
April on being strategic or spontaneous
I think the paps need to leave people alone. They need to back off and not get right up in their faces and such...
but I am guilty of reading celeb gossip sites on-line. My job is VERY boring so I visit a couple sites to look at pictures. I refuse to buy the mags though. Some reason reading it online is better than spending money on the mags in my mind. :)

I will pick up a celeb mag when I am in the doctors office. I get allergy shots once a month and that is when I usually read People or Us Weekly. I pay attention now and then. I am definitely not going to be wasting my money on an Us Weekly anytime soon. :)

i have friends who are SO into celebrities, but really, we don't even watch much tv so i could care less. but they talk and talk about who's dating who, it makes me roll my eyes sometimes... i think that celebrities put themselves in the situation sometimes to NOT have privacy, i mean the ones who want it have it! i just feel bad for some of their kids...

I'm totally not into all that crap. I hate that they get so much attention for going to the freakin' store. It's ridiculous. Who cares? Obviously plenty of people, but that just seems sad to me. I really don't even open a magazine or watch those shows. I don't have time.
As far as their privacy, I suppose the deserve it to an extent, but when you get into the biz, you just need to accept that type of public life. It's sad, but that's the way it is!

Guilty!!!! I am addicted to celebrity gossip! However, since my life has gotten so busy lately, its been hard to stay up to date with the lives of my favorite celebrities! I used to log on to Perez Hilton 2-3 times a day...not so much anymore! I still love to hear about my friends Lindsey, Paris, Nicole, and my favorite Britney!!!! I do think they need to start leaving poor "Brit" alone...she needs a break!!! SAVE BRITNEY =)

Their stories really don't interest me. For the most part, I think they open themselves up to all this gossip, but I could really care less.

I admit it. I like reading about their lives, but I also think they deserve their privacy...especially if their kids are with them. I wish these magazines, tv shows, etc. would focus more on the good things these celebrities are doing instead of the bad/negative/gross things...

I admit I read it, my razors gave me a free subscription to Star. But my favorite part of the mag is the fashion police and who wore it better. Unless I am interested in the celeb, and those I am aren't usually in the rags, It's just there to pass the time. Unless people counts I kind of like that one and InStyle. I don't think most of what celebs do should make the real news, I mean isn't that what entertainment tonite and the E channel is for?? I get that they have a public life, but really do we need 100 of the paps at Brit's house following her everywhere? It is almost like they don't work to get the photos anymore they just stalk.

I'll flip through the occasional rag mag at the dr. office or waiting in line at the grocery store.
But I'm living a rag-mag gossip-worthy life. I don't need to know about their's, too...although sometimes it makes me feel more "normal". I mean if Drew Barrymore was an unruly kid at 13 there is hope for my own, right? lol!!

the only real 'celeb' type magazine i read is people and there's other stuff in there too. i don't really even buy that anymore because well, i never have time to read them anyways.
i honestly could care less what most celebrities are up to. i don't think i've ever logged on to perez hilton's blog. i like to look at pictures of tom cruise and jake gyllenhall though. yum. :)

I'm like you...I could care less about the lives of celebrities. They seem so full of themselves to me and don't care about how a real life is lived. I always cringe when I watch them complain about their lives being broadcast to the world when they just want a "normal life". What is that really when you spend money like there's no tomorrow, act and do stupid things, and are in a business that is broadcast to the world. I just don't feel like being a celebrity junkie is something I ever want to be...I think I would be trying to fill and emptyness inside myself if I was one.
