Wanna know what I did last night?

Well, first I worked 12 hours.  But who cares about that!?

I got to see Method Man, Redman and Snoop Dogg at Epic Nightclub!! 

It took some deliberating about whether to go or not since the tickets were kinda spendy, I had worked a ton that day already and I also haven't been feeling good for the past few weeks.  You know me though.... rarely do I  pass up a good time or a good concert.  So glad we decided to go! Since Myth Nightclub recently closed it's doors, Epic is hosting many concerts now instead.  The club is very cool with all of it's remodeling, much better than when it was The Quest. 

I brought my dad's camera along and tried to get a few photos but none of the ones I used without a flash turned out very well.  These guys move around too much to get a clear shot, especially Redman! Here are a few of Meth and Red....

Meth & Red rocked! It wasn't the best show of theirs that I have seen but it was still a lot of fun.  After a short intermission the BIG DOGG himself came out to rock the house.

I have never seen a public blaze fest like I did at this show.  Wow!

 

Unfortunately my memory card is only 2 gb and the camera is 14.7 megapixels.  Every time I tried to take a video my card would fill up and then I had to start deleting.  This was the only video I ended up getting and keeping...... Snoop with Lady of Rage

Living Colour at the Fine Line Music Cafe

Last Wednesday Living Colour was in town to play a gig at Fine Line Music Cafe.  We've been fans for about 20 years but  hadn't ever seen them before, we so jumped at the chance when tickets became available.  Before the show we met a friend downtown at Pizza Luce, where we ordered dinner in the restaurant.  It was really good; much better than I remember from a past experience with their late-night pizza-by-the slice.  I'll link to the review as soon as I have it written up.  After dinner the three of us went to the show, which was really good! It was loud but the guys sounded great.  My brother Jeff was kind enough to let me borrow his camera for the weekend, so I got a few decent photos. 

 

 

 

 

 

I also discovered that the G9 has HD video.... I owned the same camera for a year (until I dropped it) and must've had it set on the crappiest quality you can get because I was never happy with the overall quality. I took a few videos at the show but had to reduce the size of the video for Youtube. Check out "Cult of Personality" below

Stop! Hammer Time

I may have mentioned before, but my little brother Jeff started a new blog last year called Funny Video Search.  On his site he posts funny videos that he finds (or that people send to him), then he makes commentary about it.  For one reason or another, Jeff finds stuff from the early 1990's the funniest and he loves to somehow connect the funniness he finds to me and the stupid things I used to do when I was just turning a  teenager. Recently he posted the following video and blogged about the awesome MC Hammer Pants I used to wear circa 1990.  Its true! I did have at least one pair of mom-sewn Hammer pants of my very own.  They were the bomb! Check out this video, it is great!!

Watching this video was great! Those gold lame MC Hammer pants are the best! You can even buy a pair here.  I had to laugh at all the moves of the dancers, totally brought me back in time 20 years. Just to prove that I once could do some of MC Hammer's moves back in the day, here I am making a fool of myself by trying to do the "Chinese Typewriter" that Hammer made so famous. Hope this makes you smile today!

Jay Leno's last night on the Tonight Show

After 17 years, Jay Leno hosted his final episode of the Tonight Show this past Friday night.  As many of you know, Conan O'Brien is taking over as Host starting this Monday.  For Jay's final show he had Conan on as a guest, a nice way to pass the reigns.  In case you missed it, you can watch the full episode of Jay's last show here.  I especially liked the ending when Jay shows us his legacy....so very sweet!  I wish both Jay and Conan good luck in their new positions :)

Snowball the Dancing Cockatoo!

I guess Snowball first made his internet debut in 2007, but I am just catching on to this now (thanks E!).  Snowball is a sulphur-crested cockatoo who loves to dance to music...and keeps a beat! Earth Day

A rockin' tune about Earth Day.... I know not everyone likes this type of music but I dig it :) I love the part that says "don't eaaaaaaat your beeeeeeeeeeeets, Re-Cy-Clllllllle, Re-Cy-Clllllllllle" very catchy, been in my head for a few days now!! Looking forward to the Earth Day celebration at one of my schools tonight! Remember.... Reduce Reuse Recycle..... these are things you can and should be doing every single day :)

My friend Jules sent this to me and I really liked the message..... The video was submitted in a contest by a 20 year old. The contest was Titled "u @ 50". When they showed it, everyone in the room was awe-struck and broke into spontaneous applause. This video only won second place!

Cynic at Station 4 ~ St Paul

Had the awesome opportunity to see Cynic at Station 4 later on Friday night.  They were really popular underground in the early 90's before breaking up.  A couple of years ago they got back together to create a new album, Traced in Air.  I love it! I was really looking forward to the show so I went despite having a monster of a headache for nearly 48 hours.  The show was pretty awesome! It was very hard to get decent photos of the band from where I was standing, but this one turned out pretty cool

I also captured a couple of videos (which reminds me that although my Canon G9 takes awesome still shots, it has horrible video quality.  Should look into a video recorder)

Little Red Corvette....

This year celebrates the 40th anniversary of my dad owning his 1960 Corvette.  Can you imagine buying this car at 20 years old and then holding onto it for the next 40 years? To one day give to your oldest child?! (Sorry Brian and Jeff....you know the deal)

This past Saturday night, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler 'recreated' Sarah Palin's sit down with Katie Couric.  I know some of you actually like Sarah Palin, but I think this is HILARIOUS!!  If you watched the original interview and then this skit, your eyes might deceive you into believing  that Tina Fey could actually in fact, be Palin.  LMAO!!!!

Sparked Up!?

So who actually watched the Loose Change documentary I posted last week? I know a handful of you commented on that post....some of you had very strong opinions on the topic.  I guess I could be honest and say some of your were FIRED UP after watching it (myself included!).   Did it make you stop and think? I encourage you all to watch it and form your own opinions, or at least look into it further.....doing so does NOT make you un-patriotic or minimize the thousands of innocent lives lost on 9/11/01.   It just points out things that don't add up. (and whoa, are there a LOT of them).  There are actually three parts to the Loose Chane series, below is the Final Cut.  This video has less of a slant but still tells the story. "Loose Change"- 9/11 Conspiracy Theory

Tonight I heard about a video documentary that was made by Dylan Avery, Korey Rowe, and Jason Bermas, men who believe that the U.S Gov' was in some way involved with the 9/11/01 attacks. That seems like an off-the-wall claim, but they must have some very compelling information I am unaware of. I found the video and I am about to watch it now. I will post my thoughts in the comments below after I watch it.

Obama's Nomination Acceptance Speech

I thought this speech was amazing :) I usually avoid politics as much as possible, but this year I am excited. Excited to see the change that Obama is going to deliver as our next President. If you haven't seen this speech, it is worth the 45 minutes....

Instant Messaging/ Video Chat......

After four wonderful months of being a Mac owner, I have finally gotten with it and tried iChat!!  I was able to import my neglected AIM and also my Google account so I will be using those much more frequently.  My screen name is ksweetsauer, leave me yours in the comments!
My brother Jeff also just jumped on the Mac bandwagon (Macs are the best, you know!!!) so we figured out how to do the video chat.  Super cool!!!!  Please let me know if you have video chat capabilities so we can chat that way sometime!

Frozen Grand Central

This is a prank on a "grand" scale. Over 200 people gathered at Grand Central Station in New York to pull off a 'frozen in place' act. The onlooking travelers who weren't part of the act were mystified as to what was going on.

Thoughts for Thursday: Cyber popularity

For those of you who blog, is being cyber-popular the main motivation for you to blog?

Last week in one of my grad classes we were talking about self-esteem and self-concept.  Someone in the class mentioned something or another about how she thought that people who blog, use MySpace or Facebook and post pictures all the time and try to make "friends" are just totally full of themselves.  I chose not to get into what I thought about that comment.

Does anyone agree with that comment?  Does blogging and posting pictures of your life make you seem self-centered or full of yourself?? 

I think not, but then again from the looks of my blog, I must be really full of myself.  Pictures everywhere!  I must think I am totally cool and popular and I only blog to get attention.  I am a big bragger, I guess.  However it is my blog and if I want to celebrate and share pieces of my life and post a ton of pics, so be it!  I think it is awesome that I am able to journal about my life this way and I personally find it very fulfilling.

Yes, I enjoy that people care or are interested enough to want to see what is going on in my life.  I love many of the dotcomrades I have met through blogging and scrapjazz.  Do I share every aspect of every single day or detail of my life? NO.  Do I blog to be popular? NO.  Am I trying to make money from this? NO.  But I also do not think that there is anything wrong with having an audience. It is actually quite motivating.  Why spend the time writing something that no one is going to ever see or read?  I enjoy getting comments and checking my stats and having old and new people read my blog, but I definitely do not strive to be one of those "Internet People" who are cyber-popular such as those we all know and love in this video.....

Blogging can be a wonderful way to reach new people.  Many people are now using blogs to generate business clientele or promote new products.  Or maybe just discussion on specific topics (politics, sports, book reviews, crafts, support groups, creative writing, etc) and I think that is wonderful. These people may be the ones who are more interested in generating large numbers of readers.

I respect those non-bloggers who wish to keep their private lives private, but I don't think it is fair to judge those of us who do blog and share bits & pieces of our lives and say that we are full of ourselves.  And so what if some people are? Your choice to read those blogs or not!

Memory Overload!!

My brain is about to explode!

Just kidding.

Actually, I downloaded a batch of pics late last night and hit my HD's 100GB capacity.  So then I got out my external HD, made sure everything was totally backed up and then I started deleting a ton of pics and music from my computer's HD.  Wow, that didn't even take me a year to fill up all that memory!  And my drive is supposed to be 120GB..not sure WTF's up with that?  Was up until 1am before I dragged my booty up to bed.

Went to The Rock Nightclub last night to see Richie's band, Buried by Hope, open a show for national acts Bobaflex and Dope.  It was a good time! I always love watching Rich, he is so dynamic and fun to watch.   

Hung with my girls Heather and Ang who both made it out to the show....

The best part about the night is that I came home NOT SMELLING LIKE SMOKE because all of MN is completely SMOKE-FREE as of Oct 1, 2007.  YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I am exhausted as can be after two very late nights in a row.  Looking forward to some down time and sleeping in this weekend.  Gonna probably do schoolwork all day Sunday.  I still have so much to scrap, but it is very low on the priorities list at this point.  I feel like if I have time to scrap, I have time to read and work on my research paper and other projects.

So anyway, I also wanted to say hi to all the lurkers who have been coming out of the woodwork lately and leaving comments and thoughts.  You are all my dotcomrades (An internet acquaintance; someone you chat with but have never actually met.) (Zoe's new word!)

Me with plaster casts of my teeth....I had to get a special mouth guard to wear at night and they made these casts from the impressions.  I kept the casts to bring to school....the kids will think that is cool!

I also took some video footage of Isis being sweet the other night. This is probably as sweet as she gets, which is nothing compared to my other lovey-dovey kitties. She is still living with me and things have been going okay, but she still loves to chase Pharaoh around. I have a couple of places to take her if we really need to, but I think we are going to try to work things out for now. There haven't been any episodes like the one a few weeks ago. Thank god!  Please excuse the annoying baby talk to the cat, that is seriously the only way to coax her over to me!  Notice the lack of a tail?  She is a rumpy Manx...they are a breed that lacks the vertebrae in the tail.

I better start winding down now, I need to get some sleep!

It was a beautiful, hot sunny weekend here.  We didn't do much this weekend, just took it easy, relaxed and went swimming over at his parents house for most of the weekend.  I love, love, love this kind of weather and sitting out, reading a good book.  I read The Pact by Jodi Picoult.  Very, very good.  I just love her books, the stories are so deep.  I am currently reading Beach Road by James Patterson.

Being that I have just three more days of work and then will spend the summer blissfully unemployed, reading to my heart's content, I have been thinking about all the books I'd like to read. 

Thankfully I just discovered http://www.paperbackswap.com/.  This site is so cool, anyone ever hear of it? It might be similar to http://www.bookcrossing.com/, but I think it is easier to use.  To start you just need to list 9 books you're willing to part with, and you get 3 credits for books you want to receive.  Each time you send out a book, you get a credit.  I started off by listing 27 books (I have about 200 more books to list on there) and I will already be mailing two of them out in the morning.  I am also expecting my first three books by the end of the week...just in time for my summer vacation to start :)  If anyone is interested, I highly recommend this site, it seems incredibly easy and safe. I'd love to be able to swap with people I know, too :) . Make sure to add me as a buddy and use my name as a referrer if you sign up...thanks!

Not much else is new, but I did order a bunch of Love, Elsie papers from www.amillionlittlethings.com .  These should also arrive just in time for my summer vacation :)

3 days to go!

BBQ Party...

It was a lot of fun over at Jeff's place Friday night for his BBQ party!!  With a little help from his good friend Hucky, the two of them made 12 racks of ribs, a 16 lb Beef Brisket, and a couple dozen brats.  Delish! I made fresh pico de gallo and also a couple of trays of layered taco bean dip with tortilla chips and my mom made her broccoli salad and several strawberry cheesecake pies (with graham cracker crust) for dessert.  Hucky's wife Toya made potato salad and Coleslaw slaw.  Everything was so good it vanished pretty fast, especially the brisket!! There were about 40-50 of Jeff's friends/family at the party, including my Gram and Gramp! It was nice to see them now that they are in MN for the summer  (I hadn't seen them since last October).

I also invited Sonja and her daughter Angelina to the BBQ.....  Angelina and Annika got to know each other and played for quite awhile.  So, so, cute!  They were taking turns getting a ride" in this vintage 60's chair (made by a well-known artist, Herman Miller)

The fam all left Jeff's BBQ at around 9pm, but that is when the fun partying was just beginning!  I ended up staying until around midnight :) Here is the the album of my pics.  Glad you had a nice birthday, Jeff!

Fishbone at The Rock Nightclub Maplewood

Last night I went to see Fishbone at The Rock.  It was an awesome show...tons of dancing to the reggae/jazz/ska mix.  These guys are awesome!

There was a guy standing next to us who was having the time of his life dancing for the entire two hours that Fishbone played. He had the best moves...I enjoyed it thoroughly. You know I had to bust out my camera and film part of the action. I am not poking of fun of him at all, it is just too good not to share.  He was totally sober too :) I know one friend of mine is upset with me for posting this for the whole world to see, but he saw me taping him and took a bow when he was done.  Hopefully no one thinks I am mean!  Here are three short clips, about 3 minutes but it is great.  Sorry about the sound quality....
